This is the kind of mini-doc that no matter the time of day or how tired you feel, you can’t help but to get up and do some push up’s or shadowbox in your bedroom. In this documentary we meet Heather “The Heat” Hardy, an undefeated boxer and mother who was displaced after Hurricane Sandy. I was here in Brooklyn last year during the storm I can attest it was hard times for a lot of people, especially those whom lost their home’s, It’s so uplifting to see Heather persevere though it.
I love watching things like this to not only keep me motivated but it inspires me to work hard towards my own goals and maybe one day inspire others to follow their dreams. She brought up a great point when she said “There is no mold that you have to fit into” and I think we forget that. Live for you, do what you love.
"In my neighborhood, that’s how it is. You get pregnant, you get married, and then you just be a mom… [But] there is no mold that you have to fit into. It’s ok to be a mom and have a career. It’s ok to be a woman and be a fighter. It’s ok to be strong and be tough and be independent."
